Natasha Akpoti Early Life
Natasha Hadiza Akpoti was born on the 9th of December, 1979 in Kwara State. She hails from Kogi State, Nigeria. However, she also has Ukrainian roots. Her parents fell in love when they met at the Soviet Union where her father was the Bogomolets National Medical University.
At a young age, Natasha Akpoti had a drive to study Law. As a result, she decided to pursue her dream to study Law in a Nigerian university.

The reason behind her popularity was because she went to the National Assembly and showed a report that said some people were doing wrong things at the Ajaokuta steel company.

Akpoti also tried to become a Senator for Kogi Central under the PDP. She lost the first election to a man from APC called Abubakar Sadiku Ohere. But in 2023, the Court of Appeal in Abuja said she was the real winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election. In February 2025, Akpoti went on Arise TV and said that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, behaved wrongly toward her in December 2023.
A few days later, the matter became bigger when she said Akpabio changed her seat in the Senate by removing her name tag.
Akpabio said he did not do anything wrong. Akpoti wrote a complaint about what she said happened. But the Senate did not look into it. They said her complaint was not written the correct way.
The Senate’s Committee on Ethics and Privileges said the complaint could not continue. On 6 March 2025, after the Committee gave their report, the Senate suspended Akpoti for six months.
During this time, she cannot enter her office, she will not receive her salary, and she will not have her security officers.
